First, book your flights on schedules where you do not have to elbow your way through a crowd. Make it a point to get to the airport earlier than your scheduled departure. This way, you would not be rushing with the rest of the passengers.
Second, make your reservations in lodgings that are far from the busy streets and highways. Since you need to relax, pick an accommodation that would give you the peace and serenity you are looking for. So pick a charming bed and breakfast near the coast, or an inn in the country side.
Third, pack gear that can help you alleviate stress. For example, you can bring your favourite pillow to provide you with added comfort. You can also pack up a stress ball or noise cancelling headphones. You may need to bring along gadgets such as an MP3 player to keep you entertained during the trip as well.
Lastly, spend a day doing what you love to do. Grab a few hours or so to go sightseeing and take photographs of places you find interesting. Even a vast field of green grass would make a great picture, and it would look gorgeous if you have it printed out as canvas art to remind you of your holiday.
